Our Team

Steve Johnson, Co-founder

Steve has spent his career working with companies and organizations that were focused on making people’s lives better. He has led and/or launched a number of for-profit and non-profit companies, and facilitated projects with artists and indigenous people groups in the US and around the world. Currently, he works as a Dir. of Communications for UBC Houston and most recently, has served as a founding partner and Exec. Dir. of the Acute Loss Center.

“Through my work at the Acute Loss Center, which is primarily focused on funeral industry professionals, I became keenly aware of the broader need for resources and education about loss. That led me to partner with Dan Garrison to launch PathLights. While we need support and resources when we lose a loved one, the impacts of other types of loss can be easily overlooked. Dan and I are thrilled to have a marvelous team of professionals working with us to develop new resources and training that will share light and hope through the unavoidable human experience of loss.”

Dan Garrison, Co-founder

Dan Garrison has a diverse range of interests in organizational leadership and business management, planetary science and NASA exploration, and non-profit financial management. These experiences have emerged over thirty two years as a NASA contract manager and leadership on nonprofit boards as a rewarding, productive, and unique mix. The practical skills of organizational and financial management have been intentionally applied to the ambitions of human space exploration and to meet human needs. “My objective now is to apply these experiences through entrepreneurial endeavors to assist those experiencing acute loss by building human resilience and equipping caregivers to meet their needs.”
